Clint Eastwood tried his hand behind the camera for the first time with a psycho-sexual thriller, "Play Misty for Me" (1971). Jessica Walter plays a female fan who repeatedly calls Eastwood's disc jockey, asking him to "play Misty for me." When the two of them meet they become embroiled in a tumultuous affair, the aftermath of which turns deadly. An interesting by product of the sexual revolution, this film foreshadows the emergence of a new sub-genre that would eventually include such films as "Fatal Attraction" (1987).
